Plant-Based Probiotic Smoothie

PLANT-BASED DRINKS RECIPE: PROBIOTIC POWER

Did you know that 80% of your immune system resides in your gut? Disruptions and imbalances of good bacteria and bad bacteria in your gut's microbiome can directly impact your immune system.

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria found in your guand they are responsible for creating acidic fermentation by-products that lower the pH in your intestine to create an environment that the bad bacteria can’t survive in. The good bacteria also secrete antimicrobial proteins that kill off bad bacteria. Foods such as plant based yoghurts and kefir are examples of fermented foods that are rich in probiotics.
