OUR FAVOURITE IMMUNE-FRIENDLY RECIPES

While immunity has been a frequent topic of conversation throughout much of 2020, the start of the second national lockdown provides the perfect opportunity to take the time to work out what exactly you can do to strengthen your immunity. Over the past few months we've shared lots of tips on how to best to support your immune system, from making sure you nourish your body and spend time outdoors, to how your pet may be providing more than just companionship, to the reasons why you may want to supplement your vitamin intake with your favourite high-dose vitamin drinks

The importance of getting the right vitamins and minerals cannot be overstated, for they are what your immune system needs to function optimally.

In this blog post, we've collated our favourite immune-boosting recipes for you to try during lockdown - Team Tonic will of course be trying them out but if you get round to trying any please do let us know!

If you're looking for a warming meal, look no further than this Carrot & Ginger Soup; carrots are packed with beta-carotene and vitamin A, ginger is obviously a Tonic Health staple, and the addition of both turmeric and onions provides both extra flavour and nutrients to the soup. As we've mentioned before, the curcumin in turmeric has been associated with a variety of health benefits, both immune-related and other, and onions are a source of prebiotics, which help create the ideal environment for healthy gut bacteria to flourish. If you're interested in knowing more about the role of gut health with regards to the immune system, check out this blog.

For anyone persevering with salads during the winter months, you might want to consider the following Sesame Ginger dressing, which, as you can guess, contains ever-potent ginger but also superfoods garlic (known for its myriad health benefits) and lemon (a mighty source of vitamin C, as in our high-dose Lemon & Honey drinks)

Craving something comforting? Try this vegan peanut chickpea and sweet potato curry, which will give you a good dose of beta-carotene from the sweet potato, vitamin C from bell peppers, and all the usual benefits from ginger and garlic.

Last but not least, if you fancy getting your vitamins in liquid form (and you've already had your Tonic of the day!) and you've exhausted all the recipes we've got in our immunity hub, why not try this Green Smoothie, packed with peaches, mangos, kale, and ginger, or our favourite Wild Blueberry Turmeric Zinger smoothie, which is just as delicious (and nutritious!) as it sounds.
