HEALTH HACKS FOR YOUR NEXT BBQ

Staying fit, well, and healthy is a key priority for many of us, but the long days of summer spent recharging our Vitamin D under the sun means it is easier than ever to reach for foods that may not be the best for our bodies. As the summer starts to wind down, and the days begin to shorten, many of us are starting to plan what could be our final BBQ of the year – and we have good news. 

You can enjoy a tasty, delicious BBQ, while still catering to your health – and we have top tips to help you achieve this.  

Get ready to boost your health, support your immune system, and enjoy the final BBQ of the year. 

Look for alternative bun options  

This is a super simple technique to improve the healthiness of your burger; by focusing on meat, rather than bread, you are able to get more nutrients into your body, without the negative effects of too many carbs. This will help ensure you do not feel bloated or sluggish after eating, as you would if you were consuming too much bread. 

You can also create an alternative to bread buns by using lettuce leaves, which are packed with vitamins A and C, and fibre. You can even use avocado slices instead of bread! 

Try grilling veggies instead of meat 

Another way to boost the health of your BBQ is to include plenty of grilled veggies alongside the meat, such as zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, eggplant, tomatoes, and onions. These vegetables contain antioxidants, vitamin K, folate, and other essential nutrients that will keep you feeling energised throughout the day. 

Grilled veggies are also great for adding flavour to your burgers, so they are a win-win situation – try creating a tasty veg kebab to enjoy alongside the other parts of the meat. 

Drink plenty of water 

When we are hanging out under the hot sun, it can be easy to forget the importance of staying hydrated, with the consequence of us not consuming enough water.  

The fact is, drinking sufficient water each day is one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy. It helps to flush toxins from your body, keeps your skin looking fresh, and ensures that you don’t end up with any nasty infections. 

Make sure that you have plenty of water available alongside other drinks, and you will instantly increase the health points of your BBQ. 

  • Start your day right 

One of the easiest ways to improve the health of your BBQ is to ensure you start your day off in the best possible way, and this includes ensuring you have the supplements, vitamins and extra treats that support your immune system and leave you feeling your best. 

When you start off the day by focusing on health, you will have a little extra room later to really enjoy the treats of your BBQ. Remember: the most important thing in life is to ensure you have balance!
