THE DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES

Tonic's founder, Sunna van Kampen, reflects on the past year, challenges to date, and hopes for the future.

Tonic is officially 1 year old today! And what a year it’s been.

I first started thinking about a way to help people harness the power of their immune system over 5 years ago. I was working a corporate job and getting sick 3-4 times each winter and knew there had to be a better solution other than simply suppressing symptoms. For several years I experimented with natural ingredients known to aid the immune system, such as vitamins, ginger, and lemon, whilst also speaking with doctors, immunologists, and scientists. Eventually, I found the perfect combination of natural ingredients which actually work with your natural defences and not against them.

Fast forward to last November: we had just launched Tonic on a shoe-string budget. I was still working a full-time job to pay the bills and was juggling far too many things at once. But thanks to you, our wonderful customers, and several of our brilliant retail and pharmacy partners, who could see the benefits of the product and supported us from the outset, we managed to grow to where we are today.

When I started Tonic, I had no idea how much we could achieve in such a short space of time. From being featured in an article on the front page of The Telegraph to being listed in the two largest health and wellness retailers in the country (Boots, Holland & Barrett), some of the things we’ve achieved still don’t seem quite real. I also had no idea that there would be a global pandemic which would lead to people’s understanding of the immune system exponentially growing more than I could have ever imagined.

Despite all our success, we are still a small company; Team Tonic is currently comprised of four people who are committed to spreading our message about Tonic being the highest dose, most natural immune support product on the market. Our biggest challenge so far has been the fact that most people still see drug-based artificial relief as their first port of call when feeling ill. We need more people to know that we have already have the power to get better within us; we just need to harness this power through vitamins rather than suppress it with drugs.

Who knows what the next year will bring; I sincerely hope the pandemic will come to an end so we can all go back to our normal lives! I also hope we can continue spreading the Tonic message and building our #ImmunityCommunity so we can all be stronger and healthier in the years to come.
